Review: May Birchbox

I recently received my first ever Birchbox last week and I have to say I am very happy with the contents. Birchbox in case you didn’t know is a beauty box, which is delivered to you for a price of £10 + £2.95 each month. It’s very similar to Glossybox and a whole bunch of other similar beauty boxes out there. You receive around six products (makeup, skincare and others), some full size and some samples of various brands.

I used to get Glossybox beauty boxes but then I started to tire of them as I found they mainly only did skincare stuff, which bored me so I stopped. Then this year I decided I wanted to try it out again but I thought I would try Birchbox (which used to be JolieBox in the UK) this time.

I am so happy I did, I love what I received in my May BirchBox.

Products shown are: Electric Hair Intensive Treatment Masque, Kusmi Tea Detox Tea, Murad® Hydro-Dynamic® Ultimate Moisture for eyes, OPI Nail Lacquer, WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beeds and Laura Geller inkwell Gel Liner all packed in this cute pick pouch bag.

I haven’t used all the products (hair mask, gel liner and buffing beads) but here is what I think of the rest so far.

1.  Kusmi Tea Detox Tea
I was a bit unsure to  try this as it had lemon in it and I hate lemon in my drinks – seriously, I hate it when I get a diet coke in a restaurant and they stick a lemon slice in it, uh no thanks. It’s not my favourite green tea drink (nothing can beat plain green tea) but it’s okay, I can drink it. I am not too sure about Detox but I have noticed I don’t feel so bloated when I drink this.

2. Murad® Hydro-Dynamic® Ultimate Moisture for eyes
I was so happy that finally, I could try a Murad cream and I love this! I only use it night as it is has Hyaluronic Acid in it but is lovely and moisturising. You only need it use a tiny bit so this deluxe sample size will last quite a long time. It actually suits my skin as well, I have very dry skin and its very sensitive around my eye area so there are some eye creams that I just can’t use. I might buy the full size once this sample runs out.

3. OPI Nail Lacquer
I don’t usually buy OPI nail polish since it’s so expensive and I hardly wear it but I always had wanted to try it. Sadly, the colour is wrong for my skin colour as it is way to light brown so it kind of looks like I have no nails when I wear it. The polish quality however is very good. It goes on smoothly and dries nicely. It dried quickly enough for my likening (hence, why I hardly use nail polish). I might even stretch out and buy a full size in another colour.

So overall, I am happy with Birchbox, I will definitely be continuing my subscription to get another one.

I will be updating this blog post again once I have tried the other items.

If you bought a BirchBox this month (or similar) what did you think of the products?

An instagram haul

OMG, I have not blogged since December! Anyway, I thought I would share with you a few things I have bought over the past few months. The pictures are from my Instagram. I actually like this display more than how blogger displays import photos so will be using this more.
For my Birthday in May, my mother and I went on our annual mother and daughter holiday and this year I decided to go to Russia. It was such a beautiful country. The palaces in Saint Petersburg! Oh my goodness, I loved it. We did a River Cruise so from Saint Petersburg to Moscow with stops at a few small villages. I loved it. Anyway since I was there, I thought for my birthday I would treat myself to a bag I had wanted for ages, the Lady Dior bag. I love this bag so much, it oozes class and it an elegant, classic piece. It’s in lambskins so I have to be very careful with it but it’s such a beauty. I didn’t get the patent leather though as I found it’s too difficult to open the bag (also heard a lot from reviews not to g…

Touche Éclat Foundation & Anti-Cernes Concealer review

I had always wanted to try the Touche Éclat Foundation. I have seen so many beauty bloggers rave about this product, however I resisted for a while because I love my Chanel Vitalumière Aqua. However, after I came back from holiday, I had tanned so I decided rather than buying one shade darker in the Chanel foundation, I would try out the new YSL one.

I went to John Lewis and the lady colour matched me, I went with one shade lighter than she suggested because on my skin any type of foundation oxidises so much and leaves my skin dull.

Initial thoughts, I love how it made my skin look. My skin looked healthy and slightly dewy but not oily (I have dry skin). It doesn't feel like you are wearing anything at all. It is a very light coverage but still does even out your skin tone. I am not sure I would wear it for a night out but I love wearing it in the day. Doesn't streak and blends beautifully. I use a Real Techniques Expert face brush to apply it. I didn't particular notice any…

Luxury haul ft Chanel, Christian Louboutin and Tiffany & Co

I have been very lucky of the past few months to buy some lovely luxury designer items and so I thought I would do a post of what I have bought.
Chanel Mini navy blue wallet bag with small purse

I really wanted the Chanel WOC and so when my mum and I went to Florence on our cruise holiday I decided to go into the Chanel store and see if they had it. They did and so the lady showed me the WOC and this one. Now I personally thought I would go for the WOC, as it was black with gold hardware and this one was in navy blue. I fell in love with this one. It's in patent calf leather, navy blue in colour and with silver hardware. It is beautiful. It also comes with a small purse inside. I don't actually know the name of this one and I did try to search for it. Anyway, it has a small chain and a zip compartment inside. It can fit quite a bit in! Also it is very resilient and doesn't scratch easily.I am very ashamed though that this is my fourth Chanel bag. I remember when my dream wa…
